  1. I am rather new to video editing. I came across this new product by ADS technology (www.adstech.com) called USB Instant DVD. The features sound really good. On the fly conversion to DVD quality mpeg2 without using your PC! and the price is below $200!
Anyone used or has any comment about this?
How about similar products like Dazzle Digital Video Creator II?

I have a bunch of miniDV tapes from my camcorder that I would like to finally burn into a DVD or good quality VCD?
    Thanks,

    Look at it this way

USB Instant DVD-7 megs per second bandwith.

Cards inside ur PC have hundreds and Megs per second bandwith and some have <1gb bandwith.

If u need external AV capture, a more prudent course might be to by a Holywood DV bridge.

DV is really good quality video and the Firewire bus has 400megs of bandiwth, more than u need.

    It's expensive but external

  3. How are you going to make a DVD or VCD of a DV file? You need to convert it... The better option is to go hardware encoding direclty to mpeg-2 or mpeg-1, no more fuzz with software encoding. If you want to use software encoding, buy a $15 BT848 card and capture with it to AVI using software mjpeg, and save $300 for a analog to DV converter box.
