Thanks guys, so my problem is with overscan.

    New questions:
    1. Is there a way in Nero Vision to add a 5% black border to my DVD? If not, is there another program that can do this for me?

    2. Is there a quick way or program to add a black border to 500 pictures that are in jpg format. This would take forever to do by editing one at a time.

Now that I know about overscan I am amazed that DVD movie making software does not have a FIX OVERSCAN feature to add black borders. Aren't most DVD's going to be viewd on TVs?

I had tried to create a new topic to my question below because I was worried that someone with overscan solutions may not read this thread when they see the topic, they make just think "Oh another overscan issue" and skip it. But that new thread was locked and I was told to continue here. Sorry for my newbie confusion

    Thanks.....Paul

    Original POST-------

    Hi,
Using Nero Vision 4.1.0.13 I created a slide show from pictures and burned it to a DVD. With an aspect ratio of 4:3 and NTSC. When I play the DVD in my DVD player and watch it on my TV, some of the left and right side of the pictures are chopped off. I played the DVD on another player and TV and it had the same problem. But if I play the DVD on my computer, everything is OK, the sides are not chopped off.

Why do I have this problem when I play the DVD on the TV but not on the computer? Is the something I can do to fix this?

    Thanks....Paul

it's normal, the tv chopps 5-10% called overscan

you must add borders to "fix it"...you can prepare the images in some other program, add a black border.

Yes, IrfanView can do that for you. Use Batch conversion (within in menu below 'File') enable 'Use advanced options. In the advanced options dialog (right bottom corner) enable Canvas size and set the necessary borders in 'Settings'. Select you 500 files and go.
