    I have a NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A drive and when I insert vcds that I KNOW have information on them, my computer says that its a blank CD-RW, what should I do?

  2. You might try cleaning the lens. If you feel like taking the drive apart, you could clean the lens with a non-abrasive cloth. If not, you could buy a laser lens cleaner from an electronics store and run it.

    YOu have any virtual drive software installed like Daemon Tools or any other number of programs? If so try uninstalling those. Trust me.

    After about 10-20 tries, opening and closing the drive, it finally is recognized. Is there a reason behind that........ or is there anyway I can tell the computer to check again instead of me opening and closing it?

    I've noticed that AnyDVD will sometimes cause blank cd-r's to show up as no disc in drive.

    Yes or any virutal drive software. If it sits between or access your CD drive it can cause these types of issues. Also it can cause it to not realize a disk was ejected and another put in.
