I have tried to convert a movie originally in Real Video streaming format with the aim to download it on my hard disk using ffmpegX.
So I created a new TextEdit file, in which I copied and pasted the link to that movie (of the type rtsp://xxx.xx.xxx.xx/video/movie.rm) and saved it as untitled.ram.
If I open that TextEdit file in ffmpegX and then I press the "Play" button in the Summary tab the movie starts playing fine, but, if I choose "AVI DivX mencoder" as encoding format (or any other mencoder based format), I get the following message in ffmpegX Progress:

    dyld: /Library/Application Support/ffmpegX/mencoder Undefined symbols:
/Library/Application Support/ffmpegX/mencoder undefined reference to _exp2f expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
/Library/Application Support/ffmpegX/mencoder undefined reference to _sqrtf expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

If I choose "AVI DivX ffmpeg" as encoding format (or any other ffmpeg based format), I get the following message instead:

Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0
    libavcodec version: 51.9.0
    libavformat version: 50.4.0
    rtsp://xxx.xx.xxx.xx/video/movie.rm: Error while parsing header

(ffmpegX Progress says "Finished" within a few seconds, but indeed it aborts). Where did I wrong?

    Thanks

    ptener

P.S.: may I do the same with a rtmp:// Flash Video streaming??

  2. I guess you're not running the latest version of OSX 10.3. Consider updating.
