    Hi all,

    I have an AVI movie encoded in Divx that has extremely large black space above and below the film. Its dimensions are currently 480x576, I need to crop it to 480x270.

    What is the best/fastest app for this, preferably freeware?

    Thanks!

    virtualdubmod or avisynth -> virtualdubmod

    (virtualdub will work just as well, I just prefer virtualdubmod)

    Ok, thanks

    EDIT : Just installed both, but I'm a bit lost. Is there a good tutorial out there dealing specifically with this issue? I looked at the guides list, but I'm unfamiliar with some of the terms. Sorry, maybe I should have posted in the noob section...

    If you use virtualdubmod you *might* be able to use fast recompress after the crop, which will save you time.

  5. And you don't want a 270 height, as it's only Mod2 (divisible by 2). Make it 272.

    Which bit ? Fast recompress is an option when you save the avi file.

    To crop, add the Null Transform filter and the Crop button enables.

    @guns1inger : Ok, seeing now the cropping option when I add the Null Transform filter. Gotta get to bed tho, work tomorrow. If you don't mind, I'll prob have a couple more questions tomorrow evening re the crop settings. THANK YOU for the help. Cheers
