Hi, I'm having a weird problem, I burned 3 movies to DVD-R and for some reason one doesnt play on the player

I had run them all through AVI check and they all passed before i burned them
I'm using NERO 7.0.1.4 and my burner is an LG GSA 4120B, i burned them the slowest i could, 2x

I decided to burn it again, now the movie that didnt work the first time plays fine, and one of the other 2 doesnt play!

Theres no error message on the player, the screen stays black, it counts 2 seconds and switches to the next track

I dont know whats going on, I didnt alter the files at all, does anyone have any ideas?

Never heard of the 462. If it's anything like my 642 you can just hit the system button twice on the remote for most ill playing or "stuck" DivX movies and they will begin playing.

  4. Use MPEG4Modifier to check the AVI files for GMC and QPEL. Use DVD-ROM ISO format, and don't use Multisession.

Qpel encoded files will cause problems on the 642 where the video will not display and will eventually skip to the next movie. Fortunately, Qpel is only used most commonly on those garbage P2P movie files anyways.

  6. What is the best way to check before burning a divx or xvid to see if it is going to play ok on my dvp-642.

theres no Qpel or GMC according to AVI Check, I opened the movies in MPEG4Modifier and 2 of the files say:

"The AVI is corrupt (chunk ends after its containing list.)"

I tried divfix, it didnt detect any errors, i tried rebuilding the index, it said the same error in the new file in MPEG4Modifer

the files that say they are corrupt, the first disc i burned, one of them works, then on the second disc i made, the other one works. same files, same media burned on, same everything

    any more ideas?

If the files are bad when checked on your pc, then it is most likely just blind luck they are playing at all. You need to repair the files if possible. If they are corrupt or damaged, then you are wasting your time and discs burning them, hoping they will play.

    Hi,

I have the 642 and have found the follow has happened to me. A DivX avi that I have encoded will play fine on my PC, then I'll burn it to a DVD RW to test it on my TV before considering it 'done' and ready for adding to my library. On occasion the file will not play on the 642 or will play with the audio out of sync or play perfectly but you can't fast forward or rewind. If I eject the disk, erase and reburn (using nero 7 premium with verify on ALWAYS) plunk the disc back into the 642 it'll play perfect. Why? Anyones guess, could be Nero, could be the 642, who knows.. Sometimes it's just like that.
