Hello, I have a VCR which I want to connect to my pc so I can convert all my VHS tapes into avi/mpeg format. I do not mind if the quality isnt the best, and I do not want to spen too much cash.
Which of the following TV cards would you guys recommend?
1. Leadtek® TV2000XP PCI TV Tuner + REMOTE ( NO FM), support video capturing - Certified by Microsoft XP WHQL Test
2. Leadtek® TV2000XP Expert PCI TV Tuner + FM + Remote Control, 10-bit Video Recorder - WW Broadcast Audio(Nicam;A2)
3. Pinnacle Systems™ - Studio PCTV 40i - TV Tuner (PAL I), RCA/S-Video Input (No Output)
4. Pinnacle Systems™ - Studio PCTV 50i - TV Tuner (PAL I), RCA/S-Video Input (No Output) , Includes Remote Control
Many thanks for your assistance![]()

can anyone help me here?
Will any of the following cards allow me to record VHS through my PC?
1. Leadtek® TV2000XP PCI TV Tuner + REMOTE ( NO FM), support video capturing - Certified by Microsoft XP WHQL Test
2. Leadtek® TV2000XP Expert PCI TV Tuner + FM + Remote Control, 10-bit Video Recorder - WW Broadcast Audio(Nicam;A2)
3. Pinnacle Systems™ - Studio PCTV 40i - TV Tuner (PAL I), RCA/S-Video Input (No Output)
4. Pinnacle Systems™ - Studio PCTV 50i - TV Tuner (PAL I), RCA/S-Video Input (No Output) , Includes Remote Control
If you could please help me I would be grateful.
Thanks, -
VHS captures are the toughest to handle - I'd say these cards are relatively equal, but no matter which you go for, you'll need a TBC (time base corrector).
Frankly, a DVD recorder (many have a TBC built in) may be your best option. But then you have the aditional work of ripping the recorded DVD if you want to do some edits and stuff.

thanks, damn. I thought it was going to be straightforward.
Plug VCR into the card's IN connector. Play the VHS and screen capture whats shown on the PC screen.... -
No, that's not the way it works.
3 & 4 seems to be the same basic card - The 50i comes with a remote - that's the difference.
The diff between 1 and 2 seems to be the Expert support for WMV/WMA. From what I can read, I'd go for the one of the Leadtek cards. But OTOH, your shouldn't believe marketing bull sh*t - try to find some reviews on the web.
