  1. When i capture in SVCD format what do i set the interlace /deinterlace setting as when asked in my PVR?

    SVCDs support both interlaced and progressive content. You should keep it the same as your source. In your case it is probably interlaced so that's what I'd use, but only you know for sure.

    Any video capture done with a video capture card/device will be interlaced as that is the nature of captured video footage.

    Remember a frame is made up of two fields.

    A field in NTSC is 240 each for a total of 1 frame at 480

    A field in PAL is 288 each for a total of 1 frame at 576

    NTSC SVCD is 480x480 so you get both fields for an interlaced frame.

    PAL SVCD is 480x576 so you get both fields for an interlaced frame.

    Since it is a capture being done through a capture card ... your SVCD will be interlaced. You do NOT want to deinterlace as this will make it look yucky!

    Now a SVCD can be progressive but normally that only happens when using a progressive video source such as a movie on the DVD format (where a progressive source is common) or if you downloaded something in DivX/XviD and wanted to convert it to SVCD (since almost all MPEG-4 contect ... like DivX/XviD ... is progressive).
