Okay. I really want to watch HDTV on my computer, and I also want to capture the transport streams on my computer, edit out the commercials, convert it to DVD spec and burn them to DVD, keeping 5.1 surround sound (for suitable content)..
I'm currently running;
AMD Athlon 2600+ CPU
1GB DDR RAM
200+ GB free HDD space
ATI All-In-Wonder 9200 Video Card
I also have an antenna capable of receiving my local HD channels.
What is a good HD capture card?
What is good software for viewing HD content on my computer?
What is good software for recording HD content to my computer?
What is good software for editing HD content?
What is good software for converting HD content to DVD?
I'm pretty much lost here and I would really appreciate any help anyone could provide.
Thanks.![]()

I'm presently using a MIT MDP-120 HDTV card. Here's a new version.

I had a DVICO 5 HDTV card before that worked OK, but the MDP-130 seems to have a better setup. It has dual cable inputs, so you can use it as a regular TV capture card also. I output through a ATI Radeon 9550 and a ATI DVI to Component adapter to my video projector. Only complaints I have is there isn't much on HDTV around here and a lot is not HD. So far, I've just used the included software and haven't captured much.
