    i have 2 questions:
    1) can someone tell me of a simple nice program to edit the attributes of all types audio files [mp3, wma, wav etc. etc.] . i mean the thing called sometimes as ID3 Tags which show the artist, song name, comments, lyrics, and other things. i know i can do this thru windows media player but only in Windows XP and i m currently using windows 2000.

    2) no matter wat i do i couldnt get any sort of mic to work in my computer. neither normal mics nor those attached to haedsets. this is y i cant play games with voice, cant record sounds, and cannot voice chat. also most headsets give me problems. they either dont work or the sound is very low even at max volume. i have an onboard realtek AC97 sound card.

help is really needed especially for (1).
    thanx

!. PZtageditor .... works for mp3's ... not tried it for other formats but is very good imo.

    2. start > control panel > sound and audio devices .... check device volume is turned up ... next ..click audio tab and check that realtec ac97 audio is selected for playback and for sound recording .... next .. select the volume radio button for playback (volume control/mixer console will open) and check that the sliders are turned up for master volume and for mic (see note below) ... under mic slider select advanced and tick mic boost (at the bottom of the window) close windows ... test headset ...

note .... if you cannot see a slider for mic volume .... click options tab > properties check the playback option then scroll down list of devices and check mic option .... now select recording option and repeat .... you should now see the slider for mic in the volume control/mixer console

musicmatch can add picture album but I believe only the plus feature offers this option. You can do manual track editing in the free musicmatch.

For MP3 stuff like tags and names, I use the Godfather. It handles a bunch of formats and is open source, iirc.

dBpowerAMP will edit the tags to all music files that have 'em - .wav files do not have tags. dBpowerAMP and Audacity are the only free programs you would need for audio work. Get the free version with free mp3 encoding at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-r10.exe . You will have to pay for mp3 encoding in the newer version. I paid for v11.5 ($14) and have not regretted it.
