  1. A special thanks goes out to both Dhardy and Davidian for their helpful suggestions in regard to solving 2 problems I had -

    1. I captured at 640x480 to get both fields, not realizing I could set a custom res of 352x480. This increased my capture time capablities by about 25%. Yeah!!!

    2. After installing a fresh Win2000 (from XP), Vdub no longer worked, even after installing the correct and most current drivers / MMC. Dhardy reminded me about a "Wrapper" post he had seen in the past. Right on the money Dhardy, AVIWRAPPER solved this problem. Thanks also goes out to
"Luke's Video" http://www.geocities.com/lukesvideo/ for the link to find this little gem. Yeehawww!

I am wondering if that little tidbit could be added to the "How to capture with ATI" article out there. I didn't experience this problem the first time I loaded the ATI because I had upgraded from another cap device that included the wrapper.

Thanks all, and happy new year!!!

I am glad that you have it working...

I started doing alot of capturing yesterday and everything is working out great. I used Davidian's guide and it works beautifully.

One question though...I have these huge AVIs that have been TMPGenc'd to an MPG file. Is there any reason to keep the AVIs...do I need them ever again? Can I just delete them?

    TIA

Thanks to you folks, I really appreciate that you like my help

I sent the guide to baldrick, but with all the fuzz around VCDhelp he hasn't had time to announce it I suppose..

  4. Well, I delete mine, just because they are nearly 40 gig per pop, and I don't have a medium to effectively store them anyhow. Outside of that, my Mpg's always look great anyway..

Before you delete the AVI's though, go through your MPG in Media Player, and check random points in the MPG file for audio quality. I say this because earlier today, I TMPGEnc'ed a file, and the first time the audio was horrible. Did it again to the same file, and this time it sounded great.

    Good luck!
