Statiscally What's the best software for the appropriate tasks.

What's known to be the best:
Anti Virus (I'm Using NOD-32)
Spyware Killer (I'm Using Ad-Aware)
Software which checks your drive for bad sectors for example (Easy Recovery) <<--
Using this.
Defragmenter? (I'm Using Diskeeper)
Burner Software (Using Nero 7)
Temp File Cleaner (Using Crap Cleaner, Tuneup Utilities & Ashampoo)

Was just wondering if anyone knows any better than these that do the tasks more thoroughly?

There's no best, just opinions.


Here's my opinions:

Anti Virus - Freeware - AVG. Payware - Trend Micro.
Spyware - Ewido Anti-Malware or Spyware Doctor.
Defragmenter - Windows default via commandline (batch file) works fine.
Burning Software - Nero 6 (too many problems with 7 from what I've read).

Antivirus - Freeware : AVG Payware : Norton's (hey, it works for me)
Spyware - Spybot S&D + Spyware Blaster
Defragmenter - DisKeeper Pro
Burning App - Prassi ONES
General Cleanup - CCleaner

Antivirus : Avg (repeatedly beats nortons)
Spyware : Ad-aware
Defrag : Powerdefrag + insert (linux mini cd distro with recover tools and more) , for stuffed system's .
General cleanup : personalized batch tool for complete junk removal
Backup : End of day = back2zip to usb2 memmory device .

Burning :

Nero for most + dl
Imgtool burn , ghost by lightning uk .

the "best" AV is the one you keep updated.

for mal-ware apps, theres about 6 or so that are trusted and proven.
then theres dozens that are worthless.

just a few thoughts...
for anitspyware.... You need 2!! one is not enugh to cover all.... regardless how good that one is.. so you need 2!!
With adaware I would choose spybots... adaware is faster but I think spybot has the edge on detect and clean!! for shelfware... spysweeper for a all round program is better than...!!

Defrag.... M$ version... satisfactory..... I think norton speed disk is better... and I have seen mentioned a couple of other that faster...!! but I can't remember there name off hand...

file cleaner programs... I don't use, I don't trust.... to easy for them to delete files you need....!! however... if you do a lot of installing and uninstalling of programs I get a good unintall type program!!... there advantage... no only do they include file cleaner and backup, but they go in and delete all related entries of a program , in the registry, they remove and the associated files and folders of the programs also ... so much better than the M$ add/remove... programs like cmp Uninstaller or symantext cleansweep are examples but there several other good ones...

Burning softwre.. my self I use roxio suite 8, I have nero express.... but I didn't like it... it was ok but if you have questions web support poor, to me there teck support is very weak..!
