  1. Before i invest in a DVD shrinker to back up my movies i would like expert opinion on what are the top three quality shrinking tools that allow onew to back up a movie on to a 4.7 GB DVD and probably in as good a time as i can expect.

Decrypters - i feel there is nothing better than slysoft anyDVD but does anyone know whether updates are free as they keep releasing new versions as i will not be able to buy all the releases especially with new protections cropping up

DVD Shrink for speed at good quality
DVD Rebuilder with CCE or ProdCoder for high quality as slower speed

DVDShrink has many friends here. Top notch results can be obtained with Clone DVD (Slysoft). Some swear by Nero Recode. There are also one-click solutions... depends what and how you want to do.

I would opt for Shrink also. For DVDs that it can't read, DVD Decrypter fills in.

Dvdshrink .... its fast and free and does a good job .... as for anydvd ... once you've paid for it the updates are free .... alternatively use dvddecrypter as this is free altho it wont work directly with some newer dvd's that have sony arccos protection etc ... but with a little know how it can be made to work ...(you just need to learn how to make psl2 files)

i use dvdshrink in reauthor mode

    do movie only

cut out unwanted audio (I Just keep AC3 5.1-ch English)

cut out the end credits if need be

    leave all the subtitles

if i do these things most movies dont require any shrinkage

Well actually since its not updated anymore try dvdfabdecrypter if shrink can't read the disc. Then after the dvd is copied to the computer open the directory in dvdshrink and proceed as normal.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
