Hate to break it to ya--Vegas does EDITING, plus a little encoding. Doesn't do Authoring.
To do that you want something like DVDArchitect (sister to Vegas, sometimes bunded with Vegas).

I have it. so how can i do it with that program? (make a dvd so that it will play on most all tv dvd players)
Thanks rcman -
Without resorting to sarcasm, I have to tell you that it's time to whip out the manual and do some reading...

You could start by choosing the correct output templates when MPEG-2 encoding in VEGAS that bear the name "DVD ARCHITECT".
In this way, when you've learned how to AUTHOR a title in ARCHITECT (very easy, BTW), you will be working with the correct elements to AUTHOR a DVD and make ARCHITECT create a "compliant" project
