  1. why is it what when i capture from vhs i drop loads of freames yet with exactly the same sttings if i capture from my camcorder i hardly drop any frames at all?

  2. I see this too from VHS. Out of 707 frames I've dropped 88. That seems high to me, but I can't seem to improve upon it.

  3. There are two reasons why dropped frames occur.
    1)Your computer is too slow to get them all.
    2)Your videotape is flawed. Physically unable to make the frames work. It doesn't even matter if it's re-recorded, it's in the tape itself. If you find one like this, mark it, and NEVER use it for capturing.

    BTW, #2 is the ONLY reason my 'puter ever drops frames.

  4. Ah. It must be #2 for me. The tape has been used at least 4 times before the stuff I'm trying to get.
    Here's one for the silly file...
    Actually look at the quality of the tape your capturing _before_ you capture it! <duh> Because it looks SO much better in that tiny preview window. <smile>
    I spent quite some time over a tape that wouldn't capture well only to discover that, well, it does look like *)^%.
    Give me a day.. then I will be able to laugh about it..
