  1. I have a nec dvd/cd burner dual layer in my desktop and 2 sony laptops with dual layer burners. I am having alot of problems burning dvd's I am not sure where the problem lies. whether it is nero or the something not set up correctly.

I have been using nero since version 4 Never really had any problems doing what ever I wanted . I found the need to burn DVD data disks on tiny files meaning thousands of files most are less than 50k none are more than 150K I upgraded from version 6 to the newest version 7 when I could not get nero 6 to not hang up. I am still having the same problem with Nero7 hanging up in the processing. It never makes it to burn a dvd with these files. I have updated to their latest version with still the same problem. I have not had any problem burning them to a CD. I am wondering if the software just can't handle 100,000 files itself.

Now I am having problems burning rips. I used ritek discs for so long and never had failures now I am having them all the time. they are failing at 3 and 4 percent. My sony laptops with dvd burners have the same problem using nero for the DVD data files so I should be able to rule out burners being the problem. As for the rips I am using dvdfabdecrypter and still use dvd2one just the main movie before I burn. If there is a problem in ripping with DVD fab decryptor do you know it did not rip right like have a fail warning.

Not sure I quite got all that but have you tried completely uninstall NERO and then installing again?

Also if its two laptops that would point to something the same between them causing it. Likely software. Have you installed anything reently?

  3. Both my laptops are sony's they basically have the same software Click to DVD is on both of them which my desktop does not have. Does windows XP have burning software built in to it for DVD's. I think the video DVD failures are ripping problems as they fail at burn I have gotten the same movie to burn successfully when I update DVDfabdecrypter and rerip it. the data file dvd's don't get far enough to even put a DVD in. Nero hangs up proccessing the files to burn. I am trying to burn alot of files. I hate to spend more money on another burning program to find out that it can't process 60-100,000 files. I have everything backed up to an external hard drive but I want it backed up onto DVD as I use the files between several computers and I will change them when I am using them. remembering which computer I changed it on has erased many hours of work as it is important for me to not change the name of the file. I have a picture of each file in a big book finding a file is easy when I know what the name of the file is.

    G'day
I have read in many forums, that the last good working version of Nero was ver6. A lot of people complain and say that ver 7 sucks. I'm still with ver6 and happy.

  5. Version 6 would not work with extremely large data files either that was the version I had before I upgraded. My computer may be just messed up I have not done a fresh XP install in over a year and I'm finding Windows Xplorer crashing an awful lot. It is the only program I have on my computer that crashes and only when I am working with the files I want to backup even when I am not trying to burn them on DVD so it may not be nero's fault to begin with and Windows Xplorer is culprit.
