I can't really answer the questions you have about NERO 7 but when it comes to DVD burning ... at least for DVD Video burning ... you would be hard pressed to beat ImgBurn.

ImgBurn is a freeware program and is made by the same person(s) behind DVD Decrypter. It is simply the best way to burn a DVD Video disc.

The only "downside" is that ImgBurn cannot burn from a VIDEO_TS folder. It will only burn from an ISO IMAGE file.

However there is an excellent freeware program called ImgTool Classic and this program was created to make an ISO IMAGE file from a VIDEO_TS folder. Although it adds some time to the process you can automate ImgTool Classic to automatically launch ImgBurn and start burning ... just make sure you load a blank DVD ahead of time.

ImgTool Classic and ImgBurn combine to make the perfect DVD Video burning solution.

Unfortunately this doesn't help if you need to create a data DVD disc for backing up important computer files or if you want to put non DVD compliant video files on a DVD like XviD or DivX files etc.

For that you will need something like NERO although by no means is NERO the only program that can burn a data DVD disc. For instance the program Prassi ONES is a common favorite alternative to using NERO for burning DVD discs with the ability to do data DVD discs as well as DVD Video discs.
