I have a leadtek tv2000 expert card I am using for computer to computer capture. I play a video games on my compaq v2000 laptop while capturing and recording on my hp pavillion 2800 desktop. My problem is no matter what software i use (winfast PVR, virtualdub) or settings I try, the captured image or video comeing in from the compaq is very poor quality. Images are blurry, and all but large text is unreadable. This is the case even when not recording video, just looking at whatever is on my compaq at the time, ( i.e, an open webpage or just the icons on the desktop).

The tv2000 card came with an adapter to accept s-video or rca. my laptop has a 7-pin svideo out from its ati radeon xpress 200m. i originally bought a cheap 4-pin s-video cord to conect them but since i was getting such a poor picture i upgrade to a 4-pin monster s-video and its still crappy. Is if its worth it to try to find a 7-pin s-video to rca or somthing like that? Is it the cable or the card?

I should mention my tv2000 has a coaxial input and that seems to work very nicely, as watching tv on my monitor seems crisp and clean.

The problem is that a computer desktop is not designed for display via analogue output. You will find that it looks similar if you display it on your TV.

The TV2000 is aTV card. The coax in will be a standard RF connector for an aerial or VCR. You can't compare what it produces to what you are outputting from your other machine.

You aren't going to get a better output using this method. You either need to capture live on the gaming machine using a screen capture tool, or get new graphics cards that allow HDMI or DVI exchange
