Have read numerous postings regarding this JVC DVD Recorder - all a little late since I'd just purchased one off of eBay when I read the first saying to stay clear of this machine!
Anyway, have had it since December and it's worked fine until recently. I've not got the usual Loading error message but something equally as annoying....
The unit randomly powers itself off, mainly when it's in standby/timer mode (which renders timer recordings useless!) - By powers itself off I mean that the clock disappears as if unplugged from the mains and it will only 'wake up' again if I unplug it from the mains and then plug it back in again.
I'd like to know if anyone else has had this kind of problem with this unit and if there's a fix for it or is it connected to the flashing loading error message I've read about - maybe my machine is in the early stages and the loading error message is yet to come.
Is it possible to fix this recorder or should I start looking for a replacement - if so, what's the best cheapo DVD/Video combi? I like the twin tuner and the fact that it records to DVD-R/RW/RAM.

Before you blame the machine, let's take a look at the discs you're using, and the power protection you've got.
Is this thing on a surge protector? A good one too, not some $5 cheapie junk. A DVD recorder is a computer, and is susceptible to small surges and changes in voltage.
What is the media ID and brand of the discs you're using? You may be using garbage discs.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
