If I set my DVDR recording and just leave it to fill the disc I don't seem to be able to read it back in DVDShrink/DVDDecrypter. It plays fine, but I want to remove adverts etc. However, if I use OTR and set the time to 2 hours (in 2 hr rec mde) then I can copy back with Shrink no problem?

    Recorder: Philips DVDR3365
    Media: Verbatim +R / +RW

According the instructions, if the +R gets to the end of the disc it will auto-finalise, but I've tried with +RW too and got the same problem.

I've searched the forums and can't find anything about this...is it just me
It's quite annoying since a lot of Sky+ 1 hour programs actually record for e.g. 63 mins.

Never let a Philips recorder run a disc to the end. The manual LIES.....and the manual has always lied about that....even all the way back to 2001-2002 with the first and second generation Philips recorders....like mine.

So ALL Philips recorders do this?
How poor is that! I want to be able to set Sky+ off, hit Rec and then go to bed and wake up to a new DVD.

Pity there isn't a OTR setting for 125 mins then instead of 2 hours!

Thanks for the quick reply...I'm in the middle of writing a letter to Philips about the HTS5700R (which I'll also post in the comments) and I'll add this to it.

Saying ALL would be impossible....but I recall seeing many posts about this on various message boards....even die-hard Philips Fan message boards.
I like my Philips...I know it's limitations and quirks...and I highly doubt I would buy another one..
