  1. Any DVD players handle Divx 6 w/menus? I don't seem to be able to find any that do. Thanks in advance.

  2. Divx 6 is the same as Divx 5 as far as video compression is concerned, ie, any player that can play Divx 5 can play Divx 6. Check divx.com for "ultra" certified players.

The DivX 6 codec is the same yes, and should work in AVI container, but the DivX 6 container format (with menus and other DVD Video-like stuff) is AFAIK yet unsupported in any standalone DivX player.

    DivX Ultra Certified

Add support for advanced features like menus, multiple subtitles and alternate audio tracks in addition to all the features of DivX Certified devices.

  6. not much that actually makes use of some of the "ultra" features though, besides that fanmade star wars movie, and the couple other demos from divx, i have yet to see anything that uses the menu features...

A Catch 22 situation. May or may not resolve itself. I'd say not.

  8. Did it occur to you that he may be making his own Divx files with menus and chapter markers?
