  1. Hi guys

Having a problem I'm hoping more knowledgable heads can help with.

I have captured a video tape through my TV card using the supplied software (Winfast PVR). I have set this to capture as a VCD (MPEG1).

When I play the mpeg file it is all fine BUT when I use NERO 7 to encode it to VCD the audio is behind the video from the start.

Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

    Thanks in advance

    First thought...because nero is crappy.

If your video is already VCD compliant then turn off 'make standard compliant' (or something like that) in nero so that it doesn't re-encode. it should go straight to VCD that way. If that doesn't work try authoring your vcd with VCDEasy.

ZippyP is quite correct, but it does seem to me that if Nero thinks it needs to re-encode your video, your recorded video is probably not as VCD compliant as you might think. Look at the requirements on the left column at the top under What Is VCD and be sure that your capture card is really using these values. You might be using too high a bit rate, or using variable bit rate instead of constant bit rate, or using an invalid resolution for VCD. Nero is not a good encoder, but most of the time if it re-encodes your video, it's because something is not quite right to begin with.
