  1. Quick Specs:
    Intel OR840, Dual 933/133, 512mb PC800, Radeon 8500, Pinnacle PCTV Pro (PCI), SB Audigy, DX8.1 ..

Ok. I have the audio looped back from the PCTV to the Line-In on the Soundcard. When I watch TV (via PCTV, VDub, AVI_IO) everything is fine - meaning I have both video and sound. No Problem.

The Problem is when I capture (with any of the above) The resulting AVI file plays back with NO sound. I have tried Many different sound codecs and to no avail. I have gone through my Audio Mixer. Unmuted all channels and still no sound.

    I have noticed 2 things.
1- Even though I can hear the audio before I record If I open the volume Meter in Virtual Dub it doesn't register ANYTHING!!

2- No matter what Compression I choose for audio the size of the resulting capture doesn't change (IE 192/mp3 = same size as PCM 8/mono)

Both these things lead me to believe that VDUB and AVI_IO aren't finding the Audio to capture. Regardless of whether or not I can hear it before hand.

I've tried everything I can think of.. is this a driver issue? Windows Problem? Am I an Idiot?

    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks in Advance!!!

  2. It figures... I exhaust every possibility I can think of and so I post... and the next thing I try- works

Anyways for anyone who might be in a similar situation down the road heres what happened:

It seems I needed to go into my SB-Audigy's Surround Mixer program, and in the "REC" section, make sure the line-in input is selected. It apparently defaults to MIDI and the only way you cna tell is by hovering your mouse over the mixer bar.. ugh. If it's not on Line-In, you'll still be able to hear the audio from the line-in, but the software won't won't record it.

Also, most software only recognises the line-in port on the back of the SB-Audigy card, not the line-in port on the front so yet another reason to save your $$ for something more in life than a add-on drive
