Website not found! Oh my God! Alert the press, contact your neighbors, post it on every forum on the Internet. A site is unavailable. The humanity, the humanity! Why, oh why?!?!?!

Maybe the MPAA shut them down. or the RIAA! Or Sony! Or all three together in a tornado tag three-way!

Macrovision sued them. And Microsoft. And Apple.

Users the world over are writhing in pain at the hour of downtime, the world as we know it is coming to an end.

    LOCUSTS! LOCUSTS! LOCUSTS!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

................ but seriously, why do people post when sites are down? If it's gone for a week, sure, something to talk about. But minutes, hours, days? That's not even good enough gossip for a water-cooler sticky beak!

    @lordsmurf

it sounds more likely that a fruit invaded the SQL database and got it's seeds caught in the core which in turn caused a meltdown. Fortunately the orange peels and rice cakes were able to remedy the situation within a matter of hours. Lessons learned. Fruit is bad.

No need to be a smartass smurf. I'm going through my business server, and within our network, there have been some problems with many sites over the past few days. I was able to get everywhere, but cdfreaks, and was trying to determine if the problem was on my end, or the other end. Sorry, but no paranoid delusions, or conspiracy thoughts involved. Just good old fashioned trouble shooting. But thanks for the input.

All lordsmurf was saying is that this is hardly latest news. Maybe general discussion but more than likely off topic would have been a better place to post it.

Hmmm! It appears that there is a 10 hour gap in the CDFREAKS forum postings. Must have been some sort of problem. Maybe those who said they could access it, should think about clearing their temporary internet files and the cached pages. They are still having problems off and on.

What's wrong ROF and SMURF. To big to admit when you make a mistake! You were both being asses, when there was a legitimate problem with the CDFREAKS site. Look before you leap.

The only thing "wrong" with me is that I'm a patient person that doesn't crap his pants and run around like Chicken Little screaming 'the sky is falling' just because some web site is down for a few hours.

People just need to have a bit more perspective about things.

Even with a 99% uptime guarantee, that means the site can be be down for up to 12 hours a month, or thereabouts. And that's just server uptime, has nothing to do with admin maintenance or major items like moves and additions/upgrades.

Don't take it personally, harley2ride. They're probably just 18-year-old kids trying to show off or something like that. Not everyone here acts that way.

By the way, how's Boise? Lived there while I managed an Ameritel Inn a couple of years ago. Spending my time on the other side of the state, now. Livin' La Vida in Poky. Cheers.

They only make their point well to the people that blatantly ignore that the guy was just trying to determine if he couldn't get through because the website was down or his company servers were blocking it. Try reading the posts.

I did (and can) read the posts.

    I see 3 on-topic reasonable answers.

    Then 2 smartass answers.

Here's a tip - when you've been here a while and seen this every 2nd week in the latest news, it starts to become like the boy who cried wolf

I'm still at a loss as to where you got "company servers" from though ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Well, when he says he's at work and wonders if the hold up is on his end, it's probably something to do with the servers. I've been here a couple of years and I've seen a few people with good intentions get ripped apart by all of the wannabe "Nick Burns, the company computer guy", and it's just annoying. Sorry, but not all of us spend all of our time encoding rented DVDs to DivX so we can watch the latest releases at our computer desk on our 15 inch LCD monitor while programming our own version of Frogger with C++. I guess somewhere, way down deep, I was hoping that this forum wasn't entirely populated by a bunch of techno-dorks that can't comprehend the fact that some people have lives away from their PC. Guess I was wrong.

"Oh and one more thing...... THANK YOU!!!"

I'm still at a loss as to where you got "company servers" from though ?

From the fact that I work for a government agency, and we go through state and federal servers. And like I beat around before, we have had some problems with our internet and intranet over the past few days. My network techs have just got most of the problems resolved. But with the timing of things, I couldn't tell if the problems were on our server end, or with the server of the host I was trying to contact. My time sensitivity had nothing to do with being able to read some forum on CDFREAKS. I was more interested in determining if there was a problem on our servers that needed address. I guess I should have typed more info, but I had just had surgery on my arm two days ago, and was typing with only one hand, and it was kind of tired as it was, so I was brief.

Now I can understand if folks came back and said to keep my drawers on, but a few told me there were no problems, and some were just rude. And I thought that I was the ******* biker...

Point being, is that maybe folks should know a little more, before they ATTEMPT to make someone feel stupid or small. Or, they just piss someone off to the point where they make them want to track somebody down and whoop some ass...

    Anyway, that's enough about that....

What, like words on a messageboard hold any meaning ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Sorry. You asked.

My first post did exactly as you requested. You said you had problems getting to CD Freaks all morning. I took my time out to visit the website and spent my time typing a post that included the browser I used and that I could indeed visit there without any problems.

My second post could only at best be considered spam. If references of fruit and rice cakes in relation Sartori's post about the SQL database going all "pear shaped" somehow made you feel stupid or small, I apologize but it was not intended as such. But like Jimmy said, if words on a messageboard make you feel stupid or small I can only imagine what constructive criticism would do to you.

OK ROF. You continue to use the forum as a place to try out your comedy routines, make asinine comments, and try to be cute. The rest of us will use it for what it was intended for. A place to share information, ask questions, learn, and help others.

Odd, I hadn't realize this place was setup for people to announce "end of the world" proclamations that certain websites are down for routine maintenance or technical difficulties. Especially using the latest news section to do so. The comic relief is that you believe it's actual video related news that your web browser is incapable of visiting a website.

ROF is annoying at times. This is true.

But in this particular thread his attitude was dead on for once

BTW I just caught myself watching a full screen pan & scan version of STAR TREK II: THE WRAITH OF KHAN on HBO eventhough I have the widescreen DVD sitting on a shelf.

I do that sometimes. I've talked to other people that catch themselves doing the same.

    Why is that?
