    I am not a newbie to MPEG2 but I am a newbie to divx and I borrowed a DIVX CD-R from a friend just to see what it looked like and I have divx 3.11a installed on the machine, but when I load it with Media Player 7.0 or 6.4 it loads up and just sits there. The window changes to the correct aspect ratio and the time indicates the proper time, but nothing plays. If I move the slider it may play a couple of frames really fast with no sound then freezes and just displays thatframe. It does the same thing in WinDVD. But if I load the divx AVI in VirtualDub, it plays fine. What is causing this?

    I don't have any luck with divx and the Windows Media Player. My solution has been to use the Playa from http://www.divx.com.
