    Do the DVD recorders have tuners? If so would it better to record a show with a dvd recorder instead of a tv tuner? Also can I plug the output of the dvd recorder into my monitor so that i can get tv channels on the monitor?

    Most DVD recorders have tuners. They mostly put out some variant of analog video, so it depends on your monitor. Many newer monitors have video inputs.
