    Hello People,

    How are you all doing?

I am pretty sure that this was discussed thousands of times in here, but what brand would you recommend for DVD+R DL?

I heard some Ritek and Verbatim is good. Never tried it before. I found some at www.rima.com at:

    http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1728&C...y_Code=DPLUSDL

    Is it reliable media?
Can you give me some inputs please?

    Thank you in advance,

This has been discussed many times. The only reliable DL media currently available is Verbatim. Any other brand and you are taking your chances. Since they are all about the same price when you find them on sale, stick with Verbatim, and you will not go wrong.

Best Buy and OfficeMax have them on sale in spindle packs. They end up costing about $2 apiece before sales tax.

    Hello People,

I started to use Verbatim. Bought them at BestBuy.

But when I am watching movie, somewhere in the middle I notice very short (maybe 1 sec) freeze and then its continuing to play normally untill the end.

Is there an explanation for this?

    TIA

Layer switch. Some machines have a very fast layer switch, and others are slower as yours.Nothing unusual.Check a commercial dvd and see if the layer switch is as long. Some movies have the layer break at a scene change,so it is less noticeable, while others do it at an obvious spot which becomes quite annoying, but quickley forgotten.
There is a link somewhere on this site to a dvd player review and buying guide, where the layer change is part of the review, and varies from player to player.

Just to backup Prot and bmiller: Verbatim is still the only reliable DL media; Some players will hesitate at the layer break, others won't, but nothing to worry about.

I agree with the verbatim comments.I still have some Fujifilm, but i had to check them.I found out by chance some of them are ritek, which are junk ,while the bulk of them are ricohjpn, which work just fine. You can't tell when you buy them where they are made,as all the boxes say taiwan on them. The ones i bought from Best Buy were the riteks, and the ones from Future Shop were ricohjpn.
I'm sticking with Verbatim from now on.
