    hello,

since I got my adobe premeire 6.5. I had barely had time to look into the programme. Now I want to devote time to it and will like to learn it properly.

my question now is this...can I go ahead and learn without a DV camera. I have got some moive files on my hard drive...

    regards,

    Start with this:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/edit/premiere/premiere.htm

There are countless other things that can be done in Premiere, but that guide will at very least give you an intro into some of the very basics.

You really also need to read the book that came with the software.

And then maybe consider buying a "for dummies" or other basics-type book.

Finally, for various advanced techniques, visit www.wrigleyvideo.com

Adobe Premiere is a piece of software that can never be explained in one, or even one dozen, guides. It is a very feature-rich piece of software.

www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial is a good site with some useful tutorials and a well attended forum.

It will be a long and rewarding road to master this program. Everything you learn applies to other programs.

Before v6.5, you were dealing with program errors, drivers, weak computers, RAID setup, etc.

6.5 just works. And a modern computer removes all the previous system issues.

Yes. You don't need your DV cam plugged in - that's only for transferring the data from the tape to the PC.

However, Premiere 6.5 can only work with certain kinds (formats) of video so you (and we) need to know what files you've got to be able to help you. Use the free software GSpot (v2.52 beta) to get the information from the files and post the details here - a screen shot would be good...

Never heard of it. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but I do a lot of amateur DV editing and just use what I've got - no mysterious "black video"...
