Try TMPGenc Plus, under 'File - MPEG Tools' and use the Simple Demultiplex option.

TTWC is entirely correct, but it might be worth mentioning that you will then need to convert the demuxed MPEG-1 layer 2 audio file to MP3. One possibility for such conversion would be to use the BeSweet GUI to BeSweet to convert MPA to MP3 with the appropriate settings you want for the MP3 output file.

Thanks, jman98 - you are correct in that assessment. I didn't mean to imply that the resultant demuxed file would automatically be an MP3 file - unless of course you change the filename extension from '.mp2' to '.mp3'.
I typically do this for shows if I just want the audio for funny/novelty clips, and it's always worked. Of course, if goodforlife wants finer control of the MP3 file settings, I'd also recommend using a separate conversion tool to accommodate the desired settings.
Thanks!
Cheers!

TTWC touched on something that might bear more mentioning: When using Mp3 players, mp2 is almost always already implicitly supported (mp1 as well, but who cares). If your player can't "see" the file when given the ".mp2" extension, just change it to ".mp3" and it shouldn't have trouble reading the file. The syntax is the same, just the complexity is different. MP3, being the more complex, shouldn't have difficulty decoding the simpler MP2.
In this way, you don't need to re-encode all your material (as long as you're happy with the filesizes to begin with), thus you'll be saving an extra encoding step, time, effort, and maintaining the available quality.
