    I've accidentally removed the default WinXP MP3 Codec.

    I have Lame, of course, but was just curious how I could get the default one back?

    if your using lame, why bother with the built in one? it's very dated and not even worth having on the computer.....that's my two cents anyhow....

    For some reason I seem to recall that Windows uses the Fraunhofer MP3 codec as the default.
    If in doubt, Google it.
