Hello, I'm new to this and only have questions, so please don't rip me a new one if I ask the wrong question. I suspect movie downloading is illegal, but do you get full length movies, or just bits and pieces of movies. Also, can you get brand new movies like the ones in theaters. What format are the movies in, mpeg-2 or what, what about the quality? I thank you for your information. Thanks again.

There are very few if any legal downloading sites. Though itunes can let you download tv shows legally and amazon is apparently about to offer real movies for download.

First of all any file sharing program is likely to have "illegal" movies downloading. Those are usually divx or xvid and generally around 700mb for burning to a cd (or in two parts to burn on two discs for a little higher qualty).

Generally unless you don't mind stealling movies and have a very fast broadband connection its much easier and a heck of a lot more ethical to simply buy the movie or rent it to watch it once. Or buy it used on ebay or another auction site.

The quality of movies on file sharing sites is exterely iffy. Some can be very good but others can be horrid. Depends on how large the file is. The larger the file generally the larger the bitrate was used and a better quality.

But its not worth it. These days they've been cracking down on all the p2p sites so it would be even harder to find anything thats new that isn't already on dvd. Besides the window from theater to dvd is getting shorter all the time so you don't really have to wait that long to get a professional, legit dvd of the movie.

Long story short its a forbidden topic on this site and is way more trouble than its worth. Just by the $10 or $20 dvd and you'll be MUCH happier. Or pay $4 and rent it.
