I was given a couple discs by a friend who has some problems with his Liteon 5005 messing up the disc in the finalization process. I was able to finalize one with my modded Daytek P30 with the LG drive but the other disc gets a sense error at 99% and refuses to finalize. I've tried to recover the data with IsoBuster but can only get 2 tracks in TAO mode. Is there any way of restoring the data files or is this a lost cause? I've been up half the night already and i suspect my friend has lost a bunch of sleep as well, so I decided to find out if anyone else had the same poblem and was able to recover from it. I've used DVD Decryptor (says no disc), Smart Ripper (no disc), and several recover tools but other than ISOBuster have nothing to show for it...

  2. I would be interested in this as well as this has happened to me a few times...

How about trying to copy the disc using Blindwrite or Alcholo to another dvd... then putting the new dvd into the Liteon.... to see if the recorder will then finalize the disc...???

Just tried that. Blindwrite doesn't even see the disc to copy. In the "read" mode it says "DVD +R, incomplete".

    Still looking...

  4. Try this with ISO Buster:

Right click on the disk at the top of the tree in the left hand pane and select "Find Missing Files and Folders".

After ISO buster finishes -could take a while, go into the new folder that it creates and copy the video files (usually the largest files) to your hard drive.

From there you will be able to re-author them onto a new disk.

I have had good sucess doing this with mini-DVD Camcorder disks that do not finalize correctly.

I tried 1.9 (I previously had 1.4) and it seems to be a lot better than previous versions. I should be able to pull off the VOBs that aren't damaged. Thanks for the tip!

  6. Also, your media probably wasn't compatible, so be sure to use some in the future that is. e.g. not the cheap media.

It's the machine. Others complain of the same problem cropping up with the Liteons...
