I just started burning DVDs so I am a relative newcomer, but all the DVDs I have burnt seem to have very bad color. Mostly a high concentration of yellow. I have tried using DVDShrink to shrink and burn the dvd, tried using FABDecrytptor and then Nero to burn it nothing works. Is it because I am using a laptop and an external DVD drive? Please help I am clueless!!

If the disc is yellow or has a greenish tinge to it that means the dye has been exposed to the air. you must be using cheap media because I've never seen a DVD turn yellow without extreme abuse.

I didn't mean that the disk turned yellow - sorry the actual movie when being played back. Almost black and white

Do you mean the color you see on the TV has a yellow tint to it or the surface of the DVDR?

    Could be a PAL/NTSC issue....maybe.
Bad(cheap) media or the methods you use to should have no bearing on the color on your TV....unless you encoded the video from scratch.
If you are talking about copied DVD's...where did the DVD's in question come from?

I rented the movie from Block, put it in my laptop and used DVD Shrink to shrink it and then burned it onto a LG external DVD burner.

    I also tried used Nero.

They movie being played back has a yellowish tint to it (actual picture on the tv).

Welcome to the forum. Around here we need you to tell EVERYTHING you can possible think about wht you did, how you did it, with what, and so forth. There are simply too many variables to even begin to comment as to what couold be wrong with process and the results you are reporting.

    1:Source.

2:If commercial DVD, how and with what di you rip it to your HD.

3:What did you use to Shrink, cut, remove extras ect.

4id you creat VIDEO_TS / AUDIO_TS structure or did you create and ISO.

5:What did you use and how did you burn the resulting file/files.

6:Media used. Not just store or company brand but the actual media code.

7:Player used to to play and what was used to view it. PC screen CRT or LCD or TV, CRT / LCD / PLASMA /DLP

Usually you should not experience any color changes when doing a simple rip and burn of a commercial DVD. Unless compressed beyond a certain threshhold, it should appear as good as the original in most viewing situations.

If any of this seems like Greek, you can always check any of the pertinent guides in the guide section for answers and descriptions to specific ??

If I may sugest a procedure that My friend who is a complete newbe is using for 100% successful backups.

1: AnyDVD running in the background to defeat any of the new anticopy protection methods.

2: DVDShrink to rip / trancodde ( if needed ) to ISO.

    3. Burn the resulting ISO with DVDDecrypter to DVD.

    4. Taiyo Yuden Media. I also like TDK

Look these topics up for complete guides an you should OK.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
