I ripped the ac3 audio from a couple of episodes of a DVD+R set of the SciFi channel's 'Invisible Man' in order to correct the audio, which was only playing out of the left speaker. After deleting the defective right channel, duplicating the left, making both channels mono, and saving as a wav (using Audacity), I converted it back to ac3 with ffmpeggui. After analyzing/checking the new audio with ac3tool to make sure it was playing from both channels, I remuxed it back with the original ifo's using ifoedit. However, when the new remuxed file is played back in Intervideo windvd, the audio in the right channel is still noticeably lower than the left, as if I didn't do anything to it at all. I've tried a number of different combinations (saving as left/right stereo rather than two mono tracks, boosting the gain on just the right channel, etc.) but nothing seems to correct it. When I remuxed the episode I just used the video_ts and ifo files from the original as I wanted to keep the same menu structure, etc. of the original. I thought I might need to create new ifo files to go with the new ac3 audio and original video, but ifoedit crashed twice when I tried it. I've been messing around with this for about 2 days now, so if anyone knows how to get this working, I'd really appreciate it.

Here's the process and tools used:

demuxed audio and video with dvddecrypter
    converted to wav with ac3tool
    replaced/fixed right channel with audacity
converted wav back to ac3 with ffmpeggui
remuxed audio and video with ifoedit

Try the other way around .

If this title has more than one vob you need to create a script that will load all the vob's for this title in the correct order so virtualmod can load them ... then

Virtualmod to open vob lst file , demux audio to pcm (normally 0x80) .
Convert this extracted pcm to ac3 using besweet .
Use vobedit to demux video stream .
Use ifoedit to author dvd using video stream and new ac3 audio .

Only catch is to watch out for dvd title's that have audio preload included (vobedit can check this) , though this method with virtualmod should pass these problem's

See how that gose ... it's my prefered method that has never failed .

Check out my guide's for detail's on this "create a script" part for vitualmod ... I am pretty sure I covered that somewhere in them .

    It's also alot quicker ...

Thanks for the tips, I'll check out the guide you mentioned and see if I can solve the probem. It's funny that you mentioned an 'audio preload', as I looked for something like this using the 'analyze ac3' feature of ac3tool but wasn't exactly sure what to look for. Also, seeing as how these aren't commercial discs, I figured there probably wasn't one present, and even if there was I wouldn't know how to alter or 'override' it. Hopefully, as you say, vobedit can take care of it.

Still getting the same result: audio only coming out of left channel, even though the ac3 track plays back perfectly from both channels when checked with ac3tool prior to remuxing and reauthoring. It's like there's something telling the player (windvd) to ignore the new ac3 file and still play the original defective one.

    Any ideas?
