to record off of my Directv Tivo saved programs

connect directv/tivo to dvd recorder, play program on, start recording on dvd recorder.

You plug the Svideo or composit out into the DVD recorder. Then switch your video source in the DVD Recorder to the incoming video source. The only problem is if your recording someting and change channels you will also change the channel on your recording.
