Most people participating on this forum will recommend staying away from the combo units. Personally, I picked up a JVC DR-MV5S since it was on closeout and the price had dropped to $209. So far the recorder has worked great and while the dubbing from VHS to DVD is very simple I am not too thrilled with the end result (DVD appears much lighter than the original VHS source).
I only have a week left to decide if I'm keeping it or returning it and so far I think I'm taking it back to the store. BTW, I had posted a request for feedback from users of this unit that have used it for more than 45 days and while a few individuals responded no one mentioned owining this particular unit. Go figure.
