Ive tried on my own for weeks to figure out how to cut them down, or edit or split them in a way that makes them smaller viewable clips with no luck. No program that seems like it will help will even open the files. Please help Im at my wits end and Im totally lost. Let me know what info will help you figure out this problem and Ill do my best to provide it.

What's your file system. Fat 32 or NTFS?

Which programs have you tried? any errors?
What is the video source codec? use avicodec or gspot to identify, avi can be anything.

    File system is NTFS.

Checking on avicodec was one of the first things I did. All I got was this, which didnt help me...

    Video : 3.102 GB, 42210 Kbps, 15.0 fps, 320*252 (4:3), DIB = Microsoft DIB, Unsupported

As far as what progams I tried, too many to name. They were all freeware but versions that claimed to be usable with large files such as this. And error messages telling me that the file type wasn't valid were mostly what I got, unless you count the numerous times that the program froze totally.

    AVI v1.0
    Corrupt AVI header
    · Chunk: /RIFF:AVI
    · Offset: 0x00000010
    · Value:0x000000d8

  7. can you open it in virtualdub? If so, just direct stream copy the audio and video, and you should then have a working video.......if not....well, then im not too sure....
