DVD Player Burn-out?

My $300 DVD player has stopped working. It no longer powers on. I never abused it at all. It is a Phillips DVD750VR.

What would cause something like this, and is there anything I could do? I know it's not the power outlet, because I've tried it on several different ones.[/i]

300 dollar player, eh? when did you buy it? if you bought it a few years ago, i'd say you very well may be up for a replacement...sounds to me like it very well could be the power supply in the unit itself....just doing a quick google, it seems that you have a combo deck.......not entirely sure why you went with that choice to begin with, but no matter........i'd say just replace it, you can get a regular standalone dvd player for like 25 bux or the EXACT same model on amazon for probably 60 or 70 dollars these days......

Nah, I only bought it 1.5 years ago. Maybe not $300, lets say $200....but still it shouldn't die like this.

They all die eventually. Some sooner, some later.
It's not worth it to fix them either, just throw it away.

Another DVD/VCR combo bites the dust eh?

I can't begin to tell you the amount of power issues I've seen with these machines. It doesn't seem to be model specific either. The replacement part will cost you more than most DVD players sell for today, plus you'd have to either solder it in yourself or pay someone elses labor. The problem I believe is that these units use the same low wattage power supplies found in CD players which in my opinion isn't appropriate for mechanical VCR operation.
