I guess there are some rumors out there that Paramount wants to do a prequel movie for Star Trek. Apparently after Archer and the ENTERPRISE tv show debacle but before KIRK.

I don't know I just think that has run its course for Star Trek and the past didn't work too kindly on them.

I think maybe if they wanted to go in a different direction they could try going a generation or more into the future beyond PICARD. That way they could get beyond the current storylines but still tread back on those stories to some degree.

And they could still utilize Q and the DOCTOR from VOYAGER. Even ODO could be brought back since changlings have an indefinite life span. Also they could cheat and say B4 fully integrated DATA's memory quickly and joined Starfleet to follow in his brothers footsteps.

Or maybe they could do a an ALL KLINGON series?????? Hmm... that might be pushing it..

Exactly. The question is less "should" they and more "could" they. Based on some of the reviews I've seen on one fansite, Paramount should consider one thing that's never been done before. All scripts should have to be "pitched" in front of a fan-panel, not studio execs. If any version of Star Trek can come up with a season's worth (or movie's worth) of fan-approved scripts, I think the success of the series/film would be more likely.

I'd say this "cash cow" is dying. Paramount should forget about it for at least 10 years before they try another one.

(BTW, On TV, I heard Patrick Stewart say he was asked about doing another TNG film.)

There've been rumors of a prequel movie for ages. It's not gonna happen any time soon.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually liked the last two seasons of Enterprise, aside from the continuity issues. It was better than most of Voyager. Unfortunately it had already lost its audience by then.

it would be one helluva cash cow I'm not sure what it could be about though

Hmm... copyrights would be to expensive to make it profitable. Make it Star Wars/Star Trek/Matrix and it would be cheaper

It's all about Gary Coleman versus Emmanuel Lewis.

    That's right Webster Vs Arnold.

    WhachutalkinboutWillis?

It would be a buddy cop movie where they are partners, but then the twist is that one orf them is a crooked cop and they have to fight it out.

And they find large Voltron-like robots to fight in.

They didn't give me a Deep Space 9 movie. So I no longer care.

The prequel movie I heard talked about (years ago) was one involving Kirk (et al) during his academy and post-academy days. If memory serves, he was supposed to be one of the youngest persons ever to become a captain in Star Fleet and got his early captaincy by "deeds" that were never really discussed during the series. There would be a lot of adventurous possibilities there. But, I think the series/movie possibilities are a pretty low priority now.

The one sequel I think would be a blockbuster if it came out would be a sequel of the 1982 film, "E.T." ... starring Drew Barrymore as a grown-up single mom (like her ET mom was) dealing with E.T.'s "return" to Earth for a visit. I'd bet that Barrymore would be up for such a role. Dee Wallace Stone, who played Drew's mom, is still alive and kicking, too. I imagine any person alive when E.T. came out would be an instant audience ... along with their own kids ... and it would also kickstart further sales of the original movie on DVD.

Somebody should whop Spielberg up the side of the head and suggest it, hehe.

Steven Spielberg and Melissa Mathison came up with the concept of a sequel called Nocturnal Fears, where Elliott and his friends are kidnapped by aliens, and E.T. would help them out. E.T.'s name would be Zreck, and his species was at war with the other aliens.

Have a sequel called: "E.T. Twenty-Five Years Later". Synopsis: The friendly E.T. was all a ruse just to draw in humans so he could study them better. 25 years later, he's back, and his home planet is out of natural resources... and Will Smith could fly a jet and Jeff Goldblum could upload a virus, and Adam Baldwin could be the head of Area 51. We need a comic relief though... how about... Randy Quaid!!!! Yeah... he's funny.

    Oh wait, that's been done.
