    Hi,

Ive got a Pioneer 105s Dvd slot rom drive that i hacked with the 1.22f hacked firmware 6 years ago in my athlon 1.4ghz system and now ive brought a new intel p4 3ghz system and moved my dvd rom drive over to that computer and now windows 2000 has counted down the region changes and my drive is now lock to region 4 and reinstalling windows doesnt reset the counter its really pissed me off because i hacked it in my athlon and have changed the regions hundreds of times without locking the drive now i get a new computer it locked it

how could this has happened has intel or the newer technology ive put the drive in some how worked around the hack or is the firmware not written on the dvd rom drive itself or is it stored in the bios or hdd boot record?

thanks for anyhelp not sure if this is where i should have posted this so sorry if its under the wrong forum but since this isnt a standalone i thought this might be where to put it

yeah done that ages ago when i first got the drive in 2000 and it still had 4 changes left. installed the firmware 105F_122.zip and made the drive region free have not upgraded the drives firmware ever since so no patch of 1.33 from pioneer as that would bring it back to rpc2 ive ran drive info and it still says the drive has no region protection on it but its definitely locked itself as reinstalling windows does not reset the regions and is perminently stuck on zone 4

Im just wondering how it could of locked the drive with the rpc1 hacked firmware installed i was trying to avoid using the region free software to save on the amount of tsr running but guess i'll have to start using them

also dont really want to patch the firmware to the 1.33 hacked version just incase something goes wrong in the patching and kills the drive as you cant buy the slotted Pioneer dvd rom drives anymore and i like the drive
dont know why pioneer stopped making dvdroms suppose they think people are going to use the writers as readers aswell now since they are so cheap. but i like having my reading drive seperate from the writer

    thanks

i'm not sure why that isnt working.. i used to have a 105d myself and had no problems changing the region after using all my manufacturer allowed changes.

my only suggestion would be anydvd.. it uses a tiny amount of resources.. it's a really great program too.

usually 0% cpu resources & 4,696k memory usage (on my system).

it uses less than damon tools, iturnes helper & svchost on my system..
