  1. Hi Everyone, i'm just wondering with some multi-media applications floating around the web, has anyone come across one which can convert rm file formats to something that can be make into VCDs? i.e .mpg, .dat, .bin or something like that. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Use TINRA to convert RealVideo -> AVI. Then use TMPGEnc to concvert AVI -> MPG.

  3. Thanks Jeomite! But where can i get TINRA? I have TMPGenc but the converted file is damn BIG! 4 mins worth is already 20MB! any suggest bit rate to make the file small even to fit a CD and yet with acceptable video/audio quality?

  6. If you are going from RM to AVI, yes the file will be larger.

  7. The general idea is to cut the .rm into small clips then convert them to AVI. Then compress and join the AVI clips using your favorite codec. If size is your only concern, not VCD, try compressing to DiVX. (You can splice and compress in one step with VirtualDub) I get DiVX sizes very close to the original .rm.

Warning to the faint of heart - Tinra / TinraGUI is only for dedicated souls! It takes alot of work to get it right. If it's too much trouble for you, look into a screen capture program.

  8. Thanks Clint & moog, buti think we're all interested in converting .rm to mpg, then into VCD. so by converting to DiVX, correct me if i'm not, wouldn't enable to cut into VCDs.

Isn't there some means of opening a realvideo (or audio) program, and re-encoding it to other usable formats (WAV, MPEG) vs. a complete infation?

I'd be interested if I could even find a means of getting real audio clips to become WAV...
