  1. iv had a read through this
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=290771&highlight=mkv
and i found i cant even open the mkv file using virtual dubmod and it says "Only handle [s_test/] subs for the moment"

im really confused about what to do about this, iv used avi2dvd to try, but the mkv files are duel audio

im sure its not image subtitles because when watching the mkv, u need to actually turn the subtitles on

It has VOBSub's. As the popup states when you first run VDubMod, its mkv support is out of date. Try mkvextract if you want to demux stuff or mmg/mkvmerge if you want to remux with only one audio stream/no subs.

You mean version 1.5.5 of the GUI? mkvextract itself is at v1.6.5. The GUI requires the mkvextract to work, so make sure that you have the GUI and mkvtoolnix.

If you want an installer, download the installer.
    http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/win32/mkvtoolnix-unicode-1.6.5-setup.exe

I also provide two differently packaged versions. The first is an installer. You simply run it, select where to install it and you're done. The second package form comes in two different RAR archives: the runtime archive and the actual MKVToolNix archive. You don't have to download all three files. You only need either the installer or both RAR archives.

can't you select separate audio stream in latest version?

or just multiplex the video with audio using virtualdubmod. check my oooooooooooooooooooooooooooold faq for multiplexing.

  11. im still having problems ><, heres my process:
    1. load mkvextract
    2. extract video, audio, subtitles
    3. im left with track1.avi, track2.ogg, track4.srt
    4. load virtualdub
    5. open track1.avi
    6. add stream track2.ogg
    7. saveas track5.avi

when i go to test the track5.avi, it is exactly the same as track1.avi and has no sound. The size of track5.avi is slightly smaller than track1.avi

VDub/Mod can't mux vorbis to an avi. Only app that can really is ffmpeg and I wouldn't recommend it.

If you are going for DVD, convert to AC3 or if you want to re-encode the entire file, decode to PCM wav then mux to your avi.
