Sony DVD RW DW-Q30A and Dual Layer Media

Bought this burner from NewEgg for $38+ shipping.

I've seen mixed reports about this burner and dual layer media. Curious if anyone has had any trouble, and which media people recommend--based on past experiences, of course.

I'm a big fan of Memorex. Have burned hundreds of CDs and DVDs with VERY few coasters being the result.

With this burner, which I've had for all of 3 days now, I have had good results with Memorex DVD-R 16x 4.7 GB media. 5 out of 5 were good.

Thinking about buying some Memorex 8.5GB 2.4X DVD+R DL Discs.

Any thoughts?

25 out of 25 on the Memorex 16x DVD-Rs with Nero 6. Not a single coaster!

10 out of 10, same media with Nero 7.0.5.4

3 out of 3 on the Memorex 2.4x DVD+R DL media with Nero 7, and they play just fine on my Sony DVPS560D

Glad to hear you've had success. The Q30 is a rebadged LiteOn SHW-1635S and should handle up to 8x+R9. Try the Verbatim +R DL sometime - you will like them too.

I've never been a big fan of Memorex because of all the different media sources they use under the Memorex brand name. But glad to hear of your success.
