Windows Media Maker can create an avi that does this - all you need to do is convert it to mpeg with your encoder. Best of all WMM is free with XP.

Even better still (sorry guns1inger), create the wording how you like it in MS Paint and save as a bitmap.

Then use this bitmap as your video source in your encoder, and add any audio that runs for 30 seconds, even if it's silence.

If you do use silence, only output the video aspect - it'll still run for 30 seconds and you'll get an M2V file.

This is a forum where people offer advice and help with problems, not offer services.

You've got Win XP - that comes with MS Paint and Windows Movie Maker, depending on which solution you choose to use.

Either way, you need an encoder that'll take your input (either a picture file or an AVI file) and encode it to MPEG2 if you want it to be on a DVD.

Look in the "Tools" section for encoders. There are some free ones.

  7. I think you guys are trying to help solve a problem that doesn't exist:

coz i have figured that my dvd player cant play Video DVD in which ther is no starting clip

There could be lots of reasons why his DVDs don't play, but the lack of an intro/startup clip isn't one of them, I don't think.

So enli2, when you put retail DVDs into the player, they don't play? Maybe it would be better for you to explain just how you create these unplayable DVDs, and then maybe someone can show you a better way.

well i created 2 dvds with DVD author

The 1st i made without menus worked well on my dvd player

but the second in which i have added menu and chose "display main menu"after disk inserted in the player ....that 1 doesnt work at all
player shows VCD and then on screen it dispays "STOP"

So i guess that i need to use some movie track and chose
play first track after disk inserted ...i think that might solve my problem

    Sry for my poor english
    Thx

  9. Hi-

Nah, there's nothing wrong with your English. It's your deductive reasoning that I think is flawed.

You mentioned DVD Author, but that's not specific enough. I guess you mean TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA), but it could also mean GUI For DVDAuthor, or DVDAuthorGUI, or by extension, any authoring program.

But I won't be able to help much. The only one of those I've used when creating a menu is DVDAuthorGUI. There are plenty of TDA experts on this board, though. When reencoding and keeping the original menu from the retail DVD, there's no better way than the "Replace" button in VobBlanker. But if it was TDA you meant, there are quite a few guides for its use on this site:

    hi
    let me make that simple

i have got 2 mov files which i want to convert to avi ---- (file x1)
then join them and add a sound for the output ----- (file x2)

then join the output avi with the avi file which i have explorted from swishmax project -----(file x2)

But getting error"The Video streams have different formats"
when i try to join these files

    What i did:

Used TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress to convert mov files to avi and automatically join them
then i added audio to the output file from TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress---- (file x4)

then i added video to file x2 ----- (file x5)

Then i tried to join filex4 and file x4....
but getting errr "The Video streams have different formats"

Plz help fast n tell me what softs i should use
n if possible tell me the procedure

    Thx very much

Search the forums, read the solutions you find, look at the guides. If you can't at least try to help yourself, then no-one will be inclined to help you.

  12. Well, I wouldn't mind trying to help, but I think this thread has taken a 90 degree turn now. Wasn't it about his DVDs that wouldn't play in his player? But now it seems to have switched to a mov->avi and joining thread, something I, for one, have no interest in.

Like the good man said, read and learn. Good luck.
