  1. Hello,

I have a Pioneer A05 burner. Most of the time I generally rip DVD's at 7.8x speed. It moves up and down, but generally hits that mark.

However recently I have noticed that anytime I use DVD Decrypter to rip my movies (which I've used all along) it will only rip at 2.5x ALL THE TIME. It dosn't move up, or down, just stuck @ 2.5x.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Check that your IDE channel hasn't slipped into PIO mode. That will slow you right down. Check this through device manager.

I have also noticed that some of the arcoss protected discs rip a lot slower than older discs without this protection.

    Thanks for the prompt reply!

I have noticed my IDE Channel is still in DMA mode.

Also, the disc I was backing up was a non-protected disc.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  4. If "Non protected" means DVD-R / +R, that could be your problem. Pressed discs tend to rip faster on most drives than recordable media does.

Nope, they are pressed discs, just no copy protection on them. Even some of the kids movies I have backed up so the kids don't destroy the originals rip at 2.5x.
