Hello,
I have a Pioneer A05 burner. Most of the time I generally rip DVD's at 7.8x speed. It moves up and down, but generally hits that mark.
However recently I have noticed that anytime I use DVD Decrypter to rip my movies (which I've used all along) it will only rip at 2.5x ALL THE TIME. It dosn't move up, or down, just stuck @ 2.5x.
Anyone have any ideas?

Check that your IDE channel hasn't slipped into PIO mode. That will slow you right down. Check this through device manager.
I have also noticed that some of the arcoss protected discs rip a lot slower than older discs without this protection.Read my blog here.

Also, the disc I was backing up was a non-protected disc.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated! -
If "Non protected" means DVD-R / +R, that could be your problem. Pressed discs tend to rip faster on most drives than recordable media does.
