I don't know whats wrong, it has difficulty running. I'm using a amd dual core cpu. I'm converting rmvb to dvd. I have the real alternative codec installed and I have installed the divx/xvid codecs. The weird thing is that I had ran tmpgenc on another dual core system running windows xp media center edition just fine before I returned the system like a month ago and got this new system which is also a dual core x2 3800+. Tmpgenc also runs fine on my centrino laptop which is using service pack 1. Could it be a codec problem or is it something caused by windows service pack 2?

is it just tmpgenc that crashes? then it's probably a codec problem...tried increase/decrease the directshow reader in tmpgenc? you can also try use avisynth -> tmpgenc, https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=289872

Its just tmpgenc that crashes. I'm tried increasing the direct show reader with no luck. I even tried turning off multi-threading.

    wolf30,
Try running Windows XP SP2 in SAFE mode and see if that helps.
If tmpgenc will run in SAFE mode than you have a conflict with a driver or other service.
Lets us know if it runs in SAFE mode.

tmpgenc runs in safe mode except that it won't load the rmvb files. Right now I'm kind of leaning towards the fact it could either be the real alternative codec or its tmpgenc plus thats causing all the problems. I have tried uninstalling real player 10 as well but it still freezes or crashes.
