first off, my specs.
t-bird 800
128mb ram
win 98
40gb ata100 7200rpm ibm
60gb ata100 7200rpm maxtor
ati all in wonder radeon, 32mb...
What I'm looking to do is capture at probably the highest quality i can. then go down to mpeg1. using ati's mmc 7.1's tv program, i can capture avi (interlaced, and huge), mpeg 1 (fast motion blurs and gets blocky) and mpeg 2. Mpeg 2 seems to work best. i can capture at high resolutions without much of a problem. the problem comes when trying to convert. i can't open mpeg2's with tmpgenc. (tried to find a codec) i got "flaskmpeg" and i can convert mp2's to uncompressed avi's. it takes over 2 hours to do just a half hour of footage. then i have to convert again from the HUGE avi file. if anyone has any suggestions, reply or message me.
