    I'd like to buy this type(s) of gizmo (I guess they are synonyms) but I don't know what features are important and what are less important. As I understand, a totally new kind is coming - HD players. Should I buy one or with my small screen (projection distance is not more than 10 feet) image quality will be OK in either format? To begin with, I thought that density of pixels, e. g. 480 vs.1020 is called "resolution" while HD signifies digital image as opposed to analog. Again, at small size screen any kind of image would be OK?
    In short, I would appreciate any advice (and please tell me if this is an inappropriate forum to post my questions?).

    This forum is fine for these type of questions.

    10 feet is a little tight. I have about 17 feet and a 5 ft X 8 ft screen.

    But here is one site that has some decent tutorials about video projectors:
