MID (media) code used? Check w/ DVDInfo, DVD Decrypter, vso Inspector. It (freezing) is usually an indication of crappy media and/or incompatibility of the media/burner, or even the set-top DVD box not playing well with it.

Beyond that, what process did you use to make the DVD, ie: source video type, tools used in x source>mpeg2/vob>author, etc?.. Also, it may help a bit it you put a more descriptive input of your PC parts into your profile..If you don't know you motherboard/memory/HDD/burner/etc makes & models, try SiSoft Sandra, or Lavalys Everest Home (now discontinued, but can DL at places like oldversion.com).

and read up on quality DVD media. Check the media code as kush suggested. Don't ever buy bulk cheap media, nor anything made in Taiwan except for Verbatim discs. Look for Made In Japan. They use better quality process for the dyes in their discs.

Are you saying it jerks when playing from the HD or from the same disk. If it is from the same disk then it is your media. if not, then there is a problem with the way you authored the DVD. If the Bit rate for the DVD very high?? That will cause jerky playback in any situation.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
