If you have a DV camera you should be able to use it to preview either on the camera screen, or on a TV

    Hi alesspunk,

Try also searching and / or posting in the forums over at www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial

It's also an excellent site for Premiere tutorials (and some other Adobe products).

Without firewire box or camera, don't know if possible or not in prem pro2, don't think so in earlier versions -- know you can do it in vegas 6. Microsoft had a beta of something called Windows Media Professional Exhibitor that would display the windowed video full screen on 2nd monitor/TV, but don't know if it'll do anything within Prem.... I know it worked with ATI 2nd monitor, but just checking the site they've got a newer version -- just downloaded so no idea what it will/will not do yet.

    thanks for the answers..

well the dv camera i think is good idea, i can used like a vcr and then send the video to the tv.

but maybe is another way... many people used premiere 1.5 or 2.0 for video editing and also HD with the aspect hd plugin.

I supposed they have sd monitor or ntsc/tv for playback job... maybe a pci o something?. I realy dont know!

    I'm going to investigate more!.

    greetings!

What is your project format? Are you working with HD?

Premiere supports IEEE-1394 monitoring for DV projects.

Uncompressed SDI requires hardware and you monitor off the SDI connection.

HD requires hardware and software additions. See Premiere 3rd party support.

If you are working in a DV format project, you connect your DV camcorder with IEEE-1394 and Premiere/PPro will capture from or pass through monitor to a TV connected composite or S-Video to the camcorder. Keep in mind that DV camcorders output 0-100 IRE in analog so the TV needs calibration to those levels (7.5% more brightness).

Or you can use a DV transcoder like the Canopus ADVC-110 to do the same thing, but the ADVC can output 7.5-100 IRE so that the TV brightness doesn't need to be adjusted.

I don't have that happen. Since 1999 I've had Premiere 5.0-5.1 and later acquiring and monitoring DV on a 533 MHz PIII and also on a 750MHz PIII Vaio notebook.

Make sure other programs aren't sharing the playback drive. Best to use a physical drive other than the one containing the OS.

Also, turn off anti-virus and other background tasks.

Firewire prob? Lots of posts/threads online reporting prob/solutions depending on firewire & PC setup -- if that might be case, search based on your problem & your hardware.

Got around to checking exhibiter prog mentioned in earlier post -- won't do any good. Using dual monitor setup, perhaps can un-dock monitor in prem and move to 2nd monitor (TV) & maximize? Might not be as accurate as firewire, but could be helpful for colors, which is where the biggest difference is.

And... checking Adam Wilt's site for something else, was reminded that setting up TV monitoring, doesn't hurt to re-check your output, for example on DVD RW. Many devices will put the output into spec 1st (clipping white levels for instance), & hide some of the things you're checking for.
